Mental Attitude : Work on Monday? Monday is the day of the week you're most likely to experience a heart attack. 20% more people die from heart attacks on Mondays than any other day of the week. Researchers theorize it's a combination of too much fun over the weekend with the stress of going back to work that causes the increased heart attack rate. American Heart Association
Health Alert : $Cancer Drugs$ More than 90% of the cancer agents approved by the FDA in the past 4 years cost over $20,000 for 12 weeks of therapy!
Journal of the National Cancer Institute, 2009
Diet : Avoid Crash Diets. Crash diets (fewer than 1,000 calories a day) are disastrous for anyone hoping to increase their metabolism. Although these diets may help you drop pounds (at the expense of good nutrition), a high percentage of the loss comes from decreased muscle mass. The lower your muscle mass, the slower your metabolism. The final result is a body that burns far fewer calories (and gains weight faster) than the one you had before the diet.

Exercise : Take A Little Walk. By walking an extra 20 minutes every day, an average person will burn off 7 pounds of body fat in a year.
American Dietetic Association
Chiropractic : What Causes Back Pain? Not all back pain is mechanical in origin. Some acquired conditions and diseases can cause back pain such as scoliosis; spondylolisthesis; various forms of arthritis, including osteoarthritis, rheumatoid arthritis and ankylosing spondylitis; and spinal stenosis, a narrowing of the spinal column that puts pressure on the spinal cord and nerves. Osteoporosis itself is not painful, but it can lead to painful fractures of the vertebrae. Other causes of back pain include pregnancy; kidney stones or infections; endometriosist.
Wellness/Prevention : Breaking Your New Year's Resolution. Here are four ways to achieve your new year's resolutions and improve your health once and for all: 1) Set attainable goals. Unreasonable goals set people up for failure. If you've been 50 pounds overweight since college, it's unreasonable to think you're going to drop that weight overnight. Instead, set reasonable, short-term goals and objectives. 2 ) Have a support system. Surround yourself with people who will help you achieve your goals. 3) Be positive. Healthy lifestyle changes such as exercising or quitting smoking can have a big impact on your overall health. Rather than focusing on what you're giving up, focus on the gain. 4) Persevere. Many times, New Year's resolutions are derailed by one slip up. This doesn't have to be the case. If your resolution is to quit smoking and you smoke a cigarette, start fresh the next day. Use your slip up as a learning tool. Why did it happen and what can you do to prevent it from happening again?
